Our client is a large multi-utilities contractor across the Power, Telecoms, Gas and Water sectors. They are looking for an experienced and accredited Telecoms Project Manager to undertake various Major Projects & customer connections in and around Slough, Iver, Wexham & Saunderton etc.

ROLE OVERVIEW
  

  • As part of the telecoms department, reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, the Project Manager will oversee day-to-day operations on specifically assigned projects and /or work streams associated with Framework Contracts providing civil installation & PIA services to the Telecom Supply Industry and key clients; managing and ensuring the efficient and economic use of resources, materials, transport, plant and equipment to its best potential.

  
  
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  

  • Responsible for the management of an individual project or multiple Contracts (the number assigned will be subject to value, duration & complexity) and effective deployment of resources to ensure works are delivered incident-free, in compliance with company policy and procedures, client specifications and standards, to programme and within budget.

  • Continuous development of client and supply chain partner relationships and where identified implementation of cost-effective innovations to the business.

  • Have an understanding of PIA & actively involved in the tendering, estimation process and preparation for tenders and construction programmes, requiring liaison with Estimators and Surveyors to provide operational and technical support in the compilation of bids and feasibility studies.

  
  
GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Manage all operational aspects of specific projects and activities ensuring that they are on time, within planned costs, to the specifications and drawings and profitable to the agreed standard.

  • Effectively manage customer & client relationships, playing an integral part in the preparation and presentation to the customer of the company’s technical and commercial benefits.

  • Work closely with the Estimating team to contribute to the preparation of accurate project estimates and bid documentation, assisting in all relevant aspects of the company’s tender & post tender negotiations leading to the successful award of contracts for which bids have been made.

  • Attendance at company Progress Review and Operational meetings.

  • Ownership of assigned projects and / or multiple Contracts, responsible for ensuring Contract administration in accordance with the company's Integrated Management System (IMS) and Contract Terms & Conditions.

  • Promotion and implementation of SQE policies and procedures.

  • Participation in the delivery of “Site Safety Briefings” and “Toolbox Talks”.

  • Ensure that all Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental requirements pertaining to the project are in place and monitored.

  • Encourage the reporting of “Near Misses”.

  • Undertake a site audit on all your teams at least once a month.

  • Regular site visits and progress review meetings with the designated Site Agents.

  • Identifying opportunities for the introduction of new innovations and industry products.

  • To promote the services of the company whilst carrying out your duties to assist in creating new business.

  • Work closely with the planning team to ensure successful planning of the sequence of the work, establishment of key dates and the workforce required by the project works.

  • Work with the Commercial team on all contract-related issues e.g. variations, interim progress applications for payment on account for the project works, and agreement of subcontractor accounts.

  • Monitor and ensure that the work of direct and sub-contract resources is being carried out to specification and program, ensuring that defects are remedied and managed within the scope of the contract terms.

  • Before using any subcontractor, check with the SHEQ department if they are on the company's contractor approval list.

  • Enforce Yellow and Red card disciplinary procedures where applicable.

  • Attainment of relevant targets and business goals, maximizing contract profitability.

  • Production of reports, presentations and drawings/designs as required.

  • Any other appropriate duties as might required on a contract/ project basis or required by senior management to meet the requirements of the business.

  • Participation in recruitment initiatives in conjunction with the Operations Director.

  • Operational and technical support to Site Agents, Gangerman and operatives.

  • Weekly progress reports to assist in commercial management and financial reporting

  • Meeting with Senior Local Authority personnel to maintain good relationships and cooperation to enable the company to promote their Considerate Contractor Position

  • Meet with and work with Major Traffic Management Company to enable Traffic Management drawings to be submitted to relevant Authorities.

  • Monitor team resources and ensure sufficient numbers are available to fulfil framework requirements.

  • Assist the Fibre team when necessary and work closely to enable a smooth transition from Civil completion to Fibre completion.

  • Ensure compliance with the Local Authority Permit System.

  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and damages are investigated in conjunction with SHEQ advisor and establish lessons learnt along with introducing preventative measures to prevent re-occurrence.

  • Attend weekly operational meetings with framework Clients to discuss and update ongoing projects.

  • Collate from the site necessary documentation to allow invoicing of completed projects and to meet with Clients where necessary to produce measure sheet sign-off for payment.

  • Assist and help the SHEQ department especially when there has been an accident/incident on your site.

  

QUALIFICATIONS

  • SA002 PIA Duct Survey & SA007 PIA Subduct and Cable Installation.

  • NRSWA Supervisors Accreditation.

  • CSCS Card for the appropriate level of responsibility / competency.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Project Management position.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Supervision of Telecom Infrastructure.

  • Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, Project and Office Outlook.
