ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer with a strong background in underground wet utilities to join a top-tier contractor.
In this role, you will play a vital role in the successful planning, execution, and completion of heavy civil projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Heavy Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred. A minimum of three (3)years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least two years specifically focused on underground wet utilities, is required.
Technical Skills: Deep understanding of underground wet utility systems and construction methods. Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans and specifications.
Software Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Word, Excel), Bluebeam, and other relevant heavy civil software.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry standards, relevant laws, regulations, and governmental requirements.
Other Requirements: Valid driver's license.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Project Planning & Design: Develop and review plans, designs, and specifications for underground wet utility projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Scheduling & Cost Control: Maintain accurate project schedules, track costs, and analyze budget variances. Research and resolve any discrepancies in job costs.
Quantity Tracking & Reporting: Develop and implement systems for tracking quantities and materials, and generate daily cost/production reports.
Contract Administration: Review contracts, obtain necessary submittals, and prepare permit applications.
Change Management: Process change orders, force accounts, and back charges.
Project Closeout: Assist with project closeout activities, including quantity take-offs, as-built documentation, and job cost histories.
Estimating: Prepare estimates for assigned projects, including take-offs, research, and vendor contracts.
Communication & Collaboration: Effectively communicate with project teams, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring smooth project execution.
