Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Inside Avenue Recruitment: Our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Policy

At Inside Avenue Recruitment, our main asset is our people, be it our own people, the clients and candidates we work with and our suppliers. We aim to ensure that all the people we work with have equal opportunities irrespective of an individual’s background or personal characteristics. Our main aim is not to simply adhere to EDI, but to make it the heart of our business policy by celebrating diversity and inclusion and embracing the innovative and creative EDI workplace.

What does EDI mean to Inside Avenue Recruitment?

At IAR, we have followed the ever-changing landscape of the workplace and embraced EDI in our own team, ensuring that we took advantage of the many benefits of diversity and inclusion. Our work to immerse equality, diversity and inclusion is attached to the duties as applied to the protected characteristics set out in the Equality Act 2010 and we strive to ensure the nine protected characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation) are at the forefront of our work. For IAR, a commitment to EDI is fundamental to our core values and this means:

Equity: Fair treatment, meaning our people have equal opportunities and access to the same experiences while removing obstacles that have prevented some people's access previously
Diversity: Recognising, respecting and celebrating differences, using the differences of our people allows for an empowered culture of creativity and innovation.

Inclusion: Creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued. Recognising that an inclusive environment is only possible once we are more aware of our unconscious biases, and have learned how to manage them.

Inside Avenue Recruitment’s Commitment

IAR is an equal opportunities employer and will always comply with all legislation. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion starts in our own workplace, and we will never discriminate against our staff, candidates, clients, suppliers or any other person or group.

IAR constantly monitors the diversity of our staff and candidate applicants to our clients (in line with relevant legislation). The data that we collect is held anonymously and is subject to GDPR legislation and diversity-related data is never attached to candidate or staff files. To ensure we are up to date with the best practices, we consistently review our policies and procedures and learn from different businesses to identify opportunities to improve.

Inside Avenue Recruitment’s Talent

IAR values different experiences and different perspectives. We have worked very hard to create an equal and diverse environment with our own team, but we are aware that we can and we will do better. Therefore, one of our aims is to seek diverse and underrepresented talent to ensure opportunity for those individuals and groups who might not otherwise have equal opportunities.

Removing any existing and potential barriers to inclusion is critical to creating an inclusive work environment where people feel welcomed, valued, and supported. With this in mind, Inside Avenue Recruitment is now offering blind recruitment (anonymised recruitment) to encourage a more inclusive and equal-opportunity hiring process.

Final Thoughts

Equality, diversity, and inclusion requires a strong commitment to build an inclusive environment where opportunities are open to all, diversity is valued, and everybody can reach their full potential without fear of harassment, prejudice or discrimination. IAR has a responsibility for creating an inclusive environment where all members of our people feel welcome and are able to be themselves and thrive.
