Senior Fibre Planner
West Sussex
Salary: £ 40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
The role is responsible for assisting the Planning Manager to ensure that all aspects of the company planning works adhere to the high-quality standards and technical prowess expected.
You will be supervising and motivating a team responsible for the surveying and planning of new CATV HFC (Hybrid Fibre/Coax) and FTTX Fibre Access/Core networks, to precise client specifications, time scales & budgets.
Utilizing (where specified by the client), BT PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) as a planning tool for fibre optic network deployment.
Responsibilities:
Ensure that all network planning works are delivered to client specifications, in agreed timeframes and within budget
Liaise with cable and civils field teams to ensure a smooth build phase of works
Assist the Planning Manager with coaching/mentoring of the junior and trainee planners
In the Planning Managers absence, supervisor the planning departments time and resources to ensure a swift and high-quality delivery of works
Responsible for supervising a team, surveying and planning both fibre to the premise (FTTP), Core Fibreoptic Networks & CATV (HFC) access networks
Provide first line management to your team, allocating duties and monitoring their progress
Responsible for regularly reviewing industry standards for all relevant network technologies to ensure that our planned proposals are technically proficient and meet requirements of health & safety for the teams responsible for build implementation
Effectively plan and implement solutions to improve efficiency
Ensure your team are proficient & comfortable with the use of our in-house digital planning tools
Own complaints and resolution for all planning related works. Provide an effective escalation route for all customer issues in relation to network proposals and resolve appropriately
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with our internal and external customers and suppliers ensuring consistent quality of service
Actively Gather detailed feedback from internal and external customers. Monitor performance against objectives and targets
Maintain all technical and operational documentation in accordance with processes and procedures
Conduct regular performance reviews with colleagues to ensure objectives are set and progress is regularly reviewed
Implement and manage technical training and competency framework initiatives
Effective management of budget – Ensure compliance to financial governance processes
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Experience working in a Network Planning environment, with a background in HFC / Fibreoptic / telephony network planning
Knowledge of Broadband Networks, Fibreoptic GPON Networks and Digital TV Technology
Knowledge and understanding of Fibreoptic and CATV Hybrid Fibre/Coax network architecture
Knowledge of BT PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) Specifications & Systems as a Planning tool
Organised, assertive with excellent time keeping skills
Demonstrate a preference in achieving or exceeding standards, focusing on delivery of targets, quality, and deadlines
Full Clean UK driving license
